Get Involved

Besides helping run a successful lacrosse organization, volunteering is a great way to  learn about the sport, show your support for the kids and make some new adult friends!

While we do not require families to volunteer during the season, we strongly encourage everyone to get involved in some way. Whether it's for the entire season or just one or two hours, we offer a range of volunteer opportunities to fit your needs and interests.

Coaching staff

We are always looking for coaches! While experience helps, it is not required. All that is required is commitment and passion. The time investment varies by team, but coaches often allot 5-10 hours a week for planning, practices, and games. Experienced lacrosse players/coaches will be available to teach volunteer coaches about the game and provide instruction for running high-impact practices. If you are interested in coaching, please  contact us

Team manager

Throughout the season, our team managers serve as the communication lifeline between the families, coaches, and BYL. For each team, it's key to have one parent take on this role. Our team managers typically spend 2-3 hours/week coordinating activities as well as distributing team updates and reminders.  If you are interested in being a team manager, please contact us.

BYL is always looking for help coordinating game-day and other essential tasks. As we get ready to kick off the spring season, we will activate a sign-up page where you can register for one or more activities, such as:

  • Game-day field marshall (greet and advise the visiting team and officials, provide guidance to time/score and penalty keepers upon arrival, coordinate post-game field clean-up by players)
  • Time and score keeper
  • Concession stand sales
  • Photo day on-site coordination
  • Spirit wear and uniform distribution
  • BYL youth night out assistance
  • End-of-year event support

For our middle and high school students, we are able to offer volunteer credit hours.

Nothing captures the essence of BYL more than seeing the determination, joy and camaraderie that our players and families experience throughout the season. With that in mind, please email us your best game photos and short video clips to include on our website and social media.

While player registration fees fund a portion of our operating budget, we heavily rely on income from sponsors and fundraising activities (raffles, concessions, etc.). If you or someone you know would like to make a tax-deductible corporate/individual donation (monetary or in-kind),  please contact us!

Specific items on our donation wish list include:

  • New or gently used lacrosse gear (to support new players who may be in need of equipment)
  • Raffle items
  • Food and beverage items to sell at the concession table during home games
  • Carnation flowers (appx. 250) to distribute to the wonderful moms of our BYL and guest teams on Mother's Day
  • Funds for BYL lacrosse scholarships
