Boys Spring Program

*Spring 2022 Registration is Open!*

Please click HERE to register

Please note that the spring season is not part of the year-round program so you need to register for the spring if you are interested in being a part of the spring teams.

Also, please note that if a particular age level fills up, we will open a waitlist.  We need to ensure that teams are not too large or too small so the players have a good experience competing against other teams.

BYL is open to players from the Barrington 220 community.  Please contact us if you are interested in joining us but live outside of the Barrington 220 boundaries.  We do not guarantee admission to players outside the 220 boundaries.

We anticipate that spring season practices will start in early April and games are scheduled to start early May.  The  Rip the Duck Tournament in South Bend, IN is April 30-May 1st 2022 and the Border Wars Tournament is May 21 & 22, 2022

BYL is open for players from grades 1-8.

Our spring 2022 program consists of four team levels:

Minis (1st and 2nd grades) -

Our Minis program introduces the game to our youngest players. The main emphasis is to develop basic lacrosse skills and their understanding and interest in the sport.

Juniors (3rd & 4 th grades), Minors (5th & 6 th grades) and Majors (7th & 8 th grades) -

New players in these levels focus on learning the fundamentals and basic strategies of the game. Experienced players focus on refining their lacrosse skills and deepening their understanding of the game. We welcome players of all abilities and experience at any team level.

Team formation

  • Minis: Teams are formed based on school grade and experience.
  • Juniors, Minors, Majors: Teams are formed based on school grade and experience.
  • Our goal is to place every player at the level best suited to his experience and ability.
  • Please note that we cannot guarantee that any player will be placed on the same team from year to year nor grouped on the same team with his friends.
  • All BYL teams are coached by parent volunteers (many of them with lacrosse experience) who are assisted by third-party professional coaches and the BHS lacrosse coach.

  • We expect practices to be held on Monday and Wednesday.
  • Practice times:

Minis and Juniors

5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Minors and Majors

6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

  • Coaches may also schedule additional optional practices on Fridays at South Barrington Community Park or other locations around the Barrington area.
  • If inclement weather causes Ron Beese Park to temporarily close, practices may be cancelled or shifted to other locations in the Barrington area.
  • Team schedules will be disseminated via Team Snap once teams are formed.

  • All BYL teams participate in the spring league organized by the Illinois Boys' Lacrosse Association (IBLA).
  • BYL teams face lacrosse organizations from nearby communities.
  • Home games will be played at Barrington High School
  • Away games require local travel.
  • Most games will be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays, but some games may be scheduled on other dates to accommodate cancelled games or field availability.
