2021 Spring Season

Register today for Spring 2021!  You can register here now.  We are hoping we will be able to offer a spring season which will last from April through June. The Illinois Boys Lacrosse Association is currently planning on having a 2021 season which is contingent on the restrictions in place in the State of Illinois at that point in time.

BYL is open for players from grades 1-8.

Our spring 2021 program consists of four team levels:

Minis (1st and 2nd grades) - $275 per player

Our Minis program introduces the game to our youngest players. The main emphasis is to develop basic lacrosse skills and their understanding and interest in the sport.

Juniors (3rd & 4 th grades), Minors (5th & 6 th grades) and Majors (7th & 8 th grades) - $325 per player (if you register before 1/31/21) and $375 per player (if you register on or after 2/1/21)

New players in these levels focus on learning the fundamentals and basic strategies of the game. Experienced players focus on refining their lacrosse skills and deepening their understanding of the game. We welcome players of all abilities and experience at any team level.

Team formation

  • Minis: Players are evenly divided across teams.
  • Juniors, Minors, Majors: Teams are formed based on school grade and experience.
  • Our goal is to place every player at the level best suited to his experience and ability.
  • Please note that we cannot guarantee that any player will be placed on the same team from year to year nor grouped on the same team with his friends.
  • All BYL teams are coached by parent volunteers (many of them with lacrosse experience) who are assisted by third-party professional coaches and the BHS lacrosse coach.

Practices

  • We expect practices to be held on Monday and Wednesday at Ron Beese Park.
  • Practice times:

Minis and Juniors

5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Minors and Majors

6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

  • Coaches may also schedule additional optional practices on Fridays at South Barrington Community Park or other locations around the Barrington area.
  • If inclement weather causes Ron Beese Park to temporarily close, practices may be cancelled or shifted to other locations in the Barrington area.
  • Team schedules will be disseminated via Team Snap once teams are formed.

Games

  • All BYL teams participate in the spring league organized by the Illinois Boys' Lacrosse Association (IBLA).
  • BYL teams face lacrosse organizations from nearby communities.
  • Home games will be played at Ron Beese Park and South Barrington Community Park.
  • Away games require local travel.
  • Most games will be scheduled on Friday evenings and Sundays, but some games may be scheduled on other dates to accommodate cancelled games or field availability.
